Things I've Made & Want to Make and FONTS!

I am linking up with several other bloggers for this post.  Linkies on what I’ve made, what I want to make, and my all time favorite…a linky on favorite fonts!!

In May, we took our first graders to see the play Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type.  You can read about that in a previous post by clicking HERE.  After the play, our students wrote about their favorite part.  We made cute little cows and pigs based on Michelle from Apples and ABC’s

They turned out really cute!  To display our farm animals, I made a barn.  This is the part of the post that qualifies me to join this linky.
One day, I was walking down the hall at school and I spotted this box.
photo 1[1]
It was huge! As tall as I am.  As soon as I saw it I said, “A BARN!”
And that’s what it became!  I wrapped it like I would a big huge, oddly shaped Christmas present.
photo 1  It turned out really well!  photo 2 (1)
I added a door, window, and straw. photo 3
photo 4  And then filled the barnyard with animals!
The moral of this story is- If you ever come across a weird shaped box, use your imagination and it can become anything you want!!

I have several things I want to make this summer for my classroom.  Some from Pinterest are:

A birthday board so I won’t forget birthdays! Of course I can’t do this one until I’m back at school.  This came from Queen of the First Grade Jungle.

I repined this from someone, but I can’t find the original source.  If it is yours-THANKS!

I want to make this to end the “When do we blahblahblah” questions! I repined this from Vanessa Wong at First Grade Faculty’s Pinterest board.
I also want to create student portfolios for next year.  I’m not sure how I am going to do them, do any suggestions are welcome wanted!
I just ran across this idea for sorting and storing what goes into the portfolios, I just don’t know how I want to organize the notebook.

I found the coolest thing in the world to keep track of what fonts you have and to see what they look like.  Because, let’s face it, after you download 720 fonts (what I currently have), you forget what they look like and which ones you love the most.  It’s called Wordmark.it  I found it through someone’s blog.  I’d love to give credit where it is due, but I just can’t remember.  So if you posted about it, please leave me a comment telling me!  Wordmark.it takes all the fonts on your computer and displays them in whatever word you choose.

And below each example is the name of the font.  This is amazing and you  DEFINITELY need to download it!!  I posted about my love of fonts in the obsession linky.  You can get to that post HERE.
Some of my favorite are:
A Year Without Rain
appleberry
Beautiful Everytime
Bistro BLock
Cheri- (Because of all the hearts!)
Circulate BRK
CoolDots
DJ Framed (All the DJ Inkers fonts, actually- this one is DJ Fat Chat)
Janda Sparkle and Shine
Kids Alphabet
Pineapple Delight
Wizards Magic
Lego Blocks
sabrina
This list could seriously go on and on, but I’ve got to quit!

  8. That barn is too cute!! I need to get my hands on some abnormally large cardboard! So I actually did those Important Times clocks in my room this year after seeing them on Pinterest too. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to just point to the clock when I hear a "When are we going to art" or "Is it lunch time yet?" They're on my list of things to blog about this summer, but yes, highly recommended! Thanks so much for linking up!! And I am already pinning about work mark :)

    1. If you were nearby, I'd give it to you! I have no idea what else I'm going to do with it. Or more importantly, where I'm going to store it! A kidney shaped table came in it, so put the word out with your custodians!
