New Teacher Blog Tuesday with Miss V's Busy Bees & Fabulous Finch Facts

Due to the wonderful response I received about NTBT, I will be posting TWO bloggers each Tuesday.  I guess I need to call this post, Two New Teacher Blogs Tuesday!
Our ladies of the day are Sara Ventrella & Janna Finch

1st Feature Teacher: Sara Ventrella from Miss V’s Busy Bees

1. Name of blog and link:

2. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I’ve wanted to for a while. With the spark of Pinterest, I kept getting pins that linked back to various blogs and I thought it looked like so much fun! I also started blogging so I could get my thoughts down somewhere that my family and friends could read, too.
3. Tell us a little about your teaching background.
I haven’t started teaching yet as I just graduated from college. But, I had a 3-month teaching experience in a Preschool setting, a 3-month teaching experience in a Kindergarten setting, and a 9-month teaching experience in a 2nd Grade setting. I learned so much from each setting, something that I would have never been exposed to had I not attended the University of Cincinnati.
4. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Songs that are included on the soundtrack to my life are anything by Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, and Eli Young Band. Hey, I’m a country girl born in the city!
5. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
The hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through was losing my father at the age of 19. It was a devastating time, but I am where I am today because of my determination to work for him and my mother!
6.  What’s your favorite TV show?
I absolutely cannot choose ONE TV show, so here’s a list of them:
-Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family
      -Bunheads on ABC Family
      -Baby Daddy on ABC Family
      -Army Wives on Lifetime
      -Grey’s Anatomy on ABC
      -GCB on ABC
-My Big Redneck Vacation on CMT
7. Are you a Times New Roman or DJ Inkers kind of girl and why?
I’m definitely a DJ Inkers kind of girl! I love funky fonts because they are so much fun and they reflect my personality! Plus, I had to use Times New Roman all throughout my college career, so I’m really tired of it!!
8. Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake?
The number of candles that appeared on my last birthday cake was 22. I turned 22 on May 3rd!
9. What was the last book you read?
Tears of a Tiger by Sharon M. Draper – I saw her at a conference I went to in February and my goodness, she is an amazing woman. She’s so inspiring, honest, and truthful. She’s blunt and says what is exactly on her mind, and I love that. Her book was amazing and is part of a trilogy. See my blog for more info on this book!
10. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
I absolutely hate, hate, HATE putting away laundry. I don’t mind just putting it in the washer and dryer, it’s the after job I hate the most. I tend to have SO much clothes that it all piles up and then when I get around to washing it, I have so much to put away that I just despise the job in and of itself.

2nd Feature Teacher: Janna Finch

1.  Name of blog and link:

Fabulous Finch Facts,           www.fabulousfinchfacts.com
2. Why did you start blogging?
It was a way to share ideas I thought were fun and positive with other teachers.  My blog is something I can come back to and reference in the future as well.
3. Tell us a little about your teaching background.
I have been teaching for 10 years, which includes many long-term substitute teaching positions.  This next year will be my Tenure, which I am so excited about and I feel very blessed, especially with all of the layoffs in CA.  I have taught many subjects, ranging from 7th grade girls PE, to Pre-school.  The past few years I have taught 2/3 combo, and now 4th grade.  I love 4th grade!
4.  What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
I love music, so this is difficult to choose some of the songs that would represent the soundtrack of my life.  I guess I would first have to say “You and Me,” by Lifehouse, because it reminds me of our beach wedding.  I also love everything from Thirty Seconds to Mars, Pearl Jam, Adele, Sarah McLachlan, Mathchbox 20, Maroon 5, and on and on and on….
5. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
My husband and I went on a road trip last summer from San Diego to my hometown in Washington State.  We stopped in Lincoln City, Oregon and had an appointment at a studio to make our own glass float.  Glass blowing was so hard, because of the extreme heat, but it created something so unique and gorgeous.  The artists at the studio were amazing and so talented!  Our glass float is a wonderful keepsake of our glass blowing experience as well as the fun road trip.
6. What’s your favorite TV show?
Lately I haven’t really been watching TV; I have been staring at my laptop.  When I do watch TV I like to watch different game shows on the game show network.  My husband got me hooked on “The Pitch,” and “Shark Tank.”  I also like the new show “Craft Wars.”  Judge Judy is hilarious to have on in the background while I am preparing dinner; she is a tough lady!  J
7. Are you a Times New Roman or DJ Inkers kind of girl and why?
I am more of a DJ Inkers kind of a girl, but just recently, though.  I am amazed with all of the cute fonts and clipart that is out there.  It is so fun to blog hop and see other people’s creativity.  Teachers are so thoughtful and giving!  Teaching has been my passion, from when I was 5 years old playing school in our backyard, to this day during my summer vacation and all I can think about is getting ready for this next school year.  It is so wonderful to have always known what I wanted to do, and that I can be a blessing to my kids.
8. Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake?
My birthday is in October, and last birthday there were 35 candles on top.
9. What was the last book you read?
The last book I read was “The Hunger Games,” and we also went to see the movie.
10. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
I love to vacuum, because I like the straight carpet trails; the chore I like the least is cleaning the shower!
