Oops.  I missed posting last Tuesday.  Please forgive me!  To make it up to you I am going to introduce you to FOUR new friends today!
First up-  Gabrielle from

1. Name of blog and link: teaching special thinkers
http://teachingspecialthinkers.blogspot.com/

2. Why did you start blogging? I have always been an avid blog reader, whether its home decor, fashion, and more recently wedding. Of course teaching blogs have been my favorite types of blogs because its what I love to do! After years of reading them, I decided that I wanted to take the plunge and start my own. From what I could tell at the time, there aren't many special education blogs out there, and there definitely aren't  too many geared towards higher functioning students that receive help through coaching, with a dash of resource room help as needed. Since started my blog, I've even more motivated and its so fun chatting and getting to know everyone in this online community. I'm having so much fun!

3. Tell us a little about your teaching background. I have my masters in elementary education, early children education, and multi-categorical special education. This is my second year of teaching special education in an elementary school and I'm lovin it!

4. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Bell bil divoe, Poison is my all time favorite song. Any time a friend hears it they call me. I also enjoy making a fool of myself anytime possible by rapping it during karaoke. I have absolutely no personal connection to the song, it just makes me happy when it comes on. Another personal favorite is Coldplay, the scientist. I wanted to have it played at our wedding, but no go...

5. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done? Last year I taught high school students in a very bad area. These kids had extremely rough backgrounds and were not easily compliant with  anyone. It was quite a challenge but I made it through and ended up loving it!

6. What’s your favorite TV show? Big Bang Theory - I love love love Sheldon!

7. Are you a Times New Roman or DJ Inkers kind of girl and why? DJ inkers for sure... Times new roman is so blah! I love fonts!

8. Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake? 25 :)

9. What was the last book you read? Glass Castle (for the third time). The author is coming to our area to speak so I wanted to get brushed up. Great book!

10. What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Washing dishes... I will put anything and EVERYTHING in the dishwasher, even our brand spankin new pots and pans. I should be ashamed!

2. Why did you start blogging?
I was introduced to the teacher blogging world about a year ago through Pinterest! I was so inspired by all of the wonderful ideas out there that were made by REAL teachers and quickly became some what of a stalker! Back in September I became a seller on TPT and decided to create a blog to draw attention to my store. I am loving all of the advice and support we give one another!
3. Tell us a little about your teaching background.
This is my 3rd year teaching. My first year I taught 1st grade. I then changed schools and this is my second year in 2nd grade! I feel like each year I become a better and better teacher!

I really could go on and on, I love music, all kinds! Country just feeds my soul
5. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
I was in a car accident a year ago (Dec 2nd, 2011). I was rear ended at a red light and ended up having to have back surgery. It was a really hard time not only for but my family. I missed over 2 months of a work. Being a young teacher that was NOT financially easy. It has been a very difficult year but I’ve worked hard to bounce back.
6. What’s your favorite TV show?
GREY’S ANATOMY! (its about to start!) Big Bang Theory, Duck Dynasty, How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Elementary (its new, and has nothing to do with school but its GREAT!) and Forensic Files.Anything on TLC (Especially Say Yes to the Dress *expecting something special for Christmas!) and HGTV
7. Are you a Times New Roman or DJ Inkers kind of girl and why?
DJ Inkers for sure! Most of the fonts I use are from Kevin & Amanda but I LOVE cute fonts! They make things so much nicer and draw more attention! I’ve actually had a parent complement for using cute fonts in newsletters/notes!
8. Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake?
24! I know I’m not old but I’m having serious issues with turning *COUGH25COUGH*
9. What was the last book you read?
It was called “ Not Quite Dating” by Catherine Bybee. It was a $1.00 deal on my Kindle during Thanksgiving break and I read it in 2 days. It was good. Then I discovered it was part 1 of a new series so now I have to wait a few months to find out what happens! I just bought “The Pact” by Jodi Picoult last night. I’ve read chapter 1.
10. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
DISHES and folding laundry! Wait, does grading papers count as a chore??

Third new friend- Kenneth from
1. Name of blog and link:
Teacher’s Ladder
2. Why did you start blogging?
I wanted to create a blog that aspiring, new, and veteran teachers could use as a resource and as a platform to exchange ideas and opinions. To make this easier I included a forum and a live chat room so resources I may not be aware of could be posted or discussed. As a new teacher I did not know where to look to find free or for purchase materials that I could use to help my students and I wanted to help others that are in the same situation. I also wanted to give advice and strategies to teachers that are struggling with student loan debt. I myself am on that particular creek and on my blog I share some of the strategies that I use as well as strategies from others to help reduce student debt as quickly as possible.
3. Tell us a little about your teaching background.
I am in my first year of teaching Special Education in western Kansas. I had a wonderful student teaching experience and I am continuing to have an enjoyable start to my career.
4. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Take It Easy-The Eagles
He Didn’t Have to Be- Brad Paisley
American Soldier- Toby Keith
5. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
Graduated from Army Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Sill, OK.
6. What’s your favorite TV show?
NCIS
7. Are you a Times New Roman or DJ Inkers kind of guy and why?
Times New Roman, I like how clean and systematic it looks.
8. Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake?
24
9. What was the last book you read?
Prentice Alvin by Orson Scott Card
10. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
Cleaning the bathroom

And lastly, Meg from
1. Name of blog and link: Fourth Grade Studio
2. Why did you start blogging? To be honest, I started blogging because I felt I needed a way to contribute beyond my classroom. I have been a teacher/leader in my district for a long time, but teaching isn’t like the business world—I’m not “moving up” anytime soon! I feel my blog is a way for me to share my “voice” about teaching and to help others continue to feel refreshed about our very stressful occupation—my blog helps ME stay positive and I hope it can be inspirational to others as well.
3. Tell us a little about your teaching background. I have taught for 20 years in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6…most of my years in 4th. I have a master’s degree in Educational Leadership/Curriculum and have been an active member of many district level committees. I am a key player in our work to incorporate the Common Core into our teaching.
4. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life? Just like my life, I have a pretty eclectic play list…from James Taylor to Billy Joel to Maroon 5! I am always looking for something new—but can rarely name the song or hum the tune…and I promise I won’t sing ANY of the songs on my ipod aloud when anyone else is present.
5. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done? This is a tough one to put into words…the hardest thing I have ever done is move my 12 year old, severely autistic son into a residential facility for the time being. His physical safety and ours were in jeopardy and we simply needed more help. I hope no one ever has to feel the pain this “syndrome” has wrought upon our family for the past 12 years.
6. What’s your favorite TV show? I am a reality show junkie—especially “Project Runway”, “Top Chef”, and “Design Star”. During baseball season, my favorite TV show is every Brewers game!
7. Are you a Times New Roman or DJ Inkers kind of girl and why? I am a combination…I think there is a time and a font for everything! I certainly can turn on my “Times New Roman” when I need to—but I like to throw a little curlie cue into life whenever I can! I am a bit of a risk taker…Times New Roman doesn’t usually cut it for me.
8. Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake? Probably 21…not sure I’ve had a cake since then. If I DID have a cake, it would have had 42 candles. A fire hazard, indeed.
9. What was the last book you read? I am reading Savvy with my students, finished Around the Next Corner in November, and am reading Atlas of Love for my book club this month.
10. What chore do you absolutely hate doing? UGH!!!! PUTTING AWAY LAUNDRY!!!!
