New Teacher Blog Tuesday

Our first new friend is Lindy, from
1.            Name of blog and link:

2.          Why did you start blogging?
I started reading teacher blogs about 2 years ago, before I was even a teacher, and loved the idea behind it! Everyone sharing their stories, what worked for their students and what didn’t. I also like being able to document my first year of teaching.

3.           Tell us a little about your teaching background.
This is my first year of teaching. I student taught in 2nd grade and 4th grade classes. Frist grade was exactly what I wanted, and I couldn’t be happier!

4.            What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
I am not one with strong opinions about music. Anything that I can sing to makes me happy!

5.           What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
I guess I would have to say applying for a job (which compared to some of the other New Teacher Tuesday posts I read sounds easy as pie!). It was the longest, most frustrating, discouraging processes I had ever been through. But in the end, I was blessed with a wonderful job!

6.           What’s your favorite TV show?
Friends. Hands down.

7.           Are you a Times New Roman or DJ Inkers kind of girl and why?
DJ Inkers. I had not been introduced to the world of fonts and graphics until I started blogging, and now I am obsessed! The majority of the fonts I use are from kevinandamanda.com. They have great free ones!

8.           Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake?
22.

9.           What was the last book you read?
I have a stack of about 10 professional books on my bedroom floor that are on my list. I am currently in the middle of about 4 of themFirst Grade Writers by Stephanie Parsons, Reading with Meaning by Debbie Miller, Growing Readers by Kathy Collins, and Revisiting the Reading Workshop by Barbara Orehovec and Marybeth Alley.

10.        What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
Laundrymostly because I have to go outside into my garage to do it. With it getting colder, I do laundry less and less.

Our next blogger is Sharon from

1.             Name of blog and link: The Convenient Teacher

2.          Why did you start blogging?  To hopefully help others with my insights on teaching. To share products that I have created and to hopefully bring followers to my facebook, my TpT store, pinterestetc.

3.            Tell us a little about your teaching background. I have a BA in Elem Education and a minor in Early Childhood.  I have taught both prek and k.

4.            What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life? If you’re happy and you know it clap your handsJ

I know this is corny but when I married my husband 30 years ago, our song was Always and Forever by Heatwave.  My husband’s family, whom I love dearly, gave us five yearsso now, every time I hear the song Looks like We’ve Made It, by Shania Twain, I have to laughJ.   I would say for the last eighteen years, I am well acquainted with Raffi, Dr. Jean, Hap Palmer and Debbie Clement.

5.           What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done? I think the hardest thing I have ever done was to leave my job of 18 years as director of my prek.  I did so because I am pursuing a career in the public school system.  I know, I knowa little late, but my school will most likely be closing down in a few years and my hubby said now is the time.  So I needed to start the process now to try to get into the county schools (which in my state is nearly impossible).

6.           What’s your favorite TV show? Another corny reply on my parthere goesAndy Griffithdont laughJ

7.           Are you a Times New Roman or DJ Inkers kind of girl and why? DJ all the way! Times New Roman is so ugly and let’s face it.  DJ Inkers is so darn cute and I love anything that is cute.  Don’t you?

8.           Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake? I hate this oneI dont look it really51

9.           What was the last book you read?  Do blogs count?  Okay it was a ghost bookyes, I love books about ghostIt was titled, When Ghost Speak, by Mary Ann Winkowski

10.        What chore do you absolutely hate doing? I hate to vacuum!  Yuck!!!!!
