2.           Tell us about your blog and why you started it.
My blog is a place where ANYONE , new teacher, “veteran” teacher, homeschool teacher, and/or ANYONE  can find games, ideas, and positive thoughts to help educate and COMMUNICATE to young children.

3.            Tell us a little about your teaching background.
I have been a mentor teacher for 20+ years. The first 6 years of my career were at a small school near my home. Then I transferred to a low performing, low socioeconomic, high EL population, Title  1 school in a “tough” neighborhood. I have been here 16 years. I have a reading specialist certificate on top of my teaching credential, which allows me to teach reading to K-6 students. I choose to remain a Grade 1 teacher, which I have for my entire career.

4.            What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
“All My Rowdy Friends are Coming  Over Tonight!”   “ You’re Still the One”

5.           What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
I  took a position at the district office for a year to help other teachers. I trained teachers for a year in a new reading program. I gave up my class for a year. It was very intimidating to work with administrators after working exclusively with first grade students.

2.           Tell us about your blog and why you started it.
My teaching blog focuses on sharing and collaborating with teachers across grade levels and states. I was inspired by all the great things I saw on other teaching blogs. I thought it would be a great way to collaborate with other talented teachers. The sharing and improvement of ideas is what drives the teaching realm.

3.            Tell us a little about your teaching background.
I have been teaching for 5 years. I have only taught second grade, and I hope to keep it that way! I love teaching this age group! Before I was hired as a teacher at my current school, I worked as a substitute teacher for a year. I feel that was the best things I could have done out of college. It truly prepared me for being in my own classroom. The experience exposed me to so many different teaching styles and ideas.

4.            What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Anything with a good up-beat tempo, I like happy music!

5.           What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
Well, I recently had a baby so that goes without saying. But other than childbirth, the next hardest thing I’ve ever done was complete a full marathon. I thought I was going to die mid way through! Even though I had trained for almost 6 months before hand, nothing could have prepared for the “mind over body” mentality I needed to finish.

6.           What’s your favorite TV show?
 Downton Abby! I am obsessed!

7.           Are you a Times New Roman or DJ Inkers kind of girl/guy and why?
DJ Inkers! Gotta have a little fun in your life!

8.           Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake? 28!

9.            What was the last book you read? The Hunger Games Trilogy. I needed to see what all the fuss was about!

10.         What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Vacuuming! I HATE vacuuming! Lucky for me my husband loves to vacuum!
