Tell us about your blog and why you started it. I started my blog to collaborate and connect
with other teachers. I wanted to develop relationships where I shared
information, but also learned from others. My blog is called Eclectic Educating
because I work with grades K-5 as a Title 1 intervention teacher. I post
lessons for a variety of grade levels. You will find a little bit of
everything!
3.
Tell us a
little about your teaching background. This
year I will be finishing my third year of teaching. For the past three years, I
have been a Title 1 intervention teacher. I work with grades K-5 through
inclusion and pull out intervention, with both reading and math. It's not what
I originally envisioned myself doing, (I have a gen ed degree!) but I
absolutely love it!
4.
What songs are included on the
soundtrack to your life?
Anything
Could Happen – Ellie
Goulding
The
Times They are A Changing – Bob
Dylan
5.
What’s
the hardest thing you've ever done? I
had to take Physics for Engineers in college because it was the only course
that met the requirements to graduate and fit into my schedule. Half of the
class had flunked out by midterm! I really had to work for that one, and it has
made me really appreciate the struggle some students go through at school.
6.
What’s your favorite TV show? New Girl! I think it is the funniest show I
have ever seen. Tuesdays on Fox at 9 pm. Everyone needs to check it out!
7.
What is your favorite item of clothing and why? That is a tough one, but I would have to go
with my “jeggings” from Old Navy. Before you go judging me, I put it in quotes
for a reason! The best part about these jeans is that they don't feel like
jeans, because they barely are, but everyone thinks they are jeans! No one
believes me when I tell them that they are jeggings, which I rarely admit!
8.
Number of candles that appeared on your last
birthday cake? 24, but 25 if this is
posted after May 22nd!
9.
What was the last book you read? What are you
going to read next? Gone Girl – It had definitely
been too long since I read a mystery. This book had me on the edge of my seat.
I loved the plot twists, and the ending did not disappoint! I plan on reading
Grimm Fairy Tales next. I just got a beautiful 1940s copy of the book from a
library sale. Can you believe it was only $7?! The library never ceases to
amaze me!
10.
What was the last thing that you ate that you
really shouldn’t of? I really should
not have eaten that last piece of pizza. You know when you are just the right amount
of full and then you go and ruin it? My eyes are definitely bigger than my
stomach.

Tell us about your blog and why you started it.
I honestly created my blog to
have a platform for more exposure to my products, but I’ve had so much fun
connecting with other bloggers out there! I wasn’t expecting that!
3.
Tell us a
little about your teaching background.
I’ve
been teaching in a public board in Ontario, Canada for 15 years. I’ve taught
grade 5 (or a split containing the grade) for the past 13 of those years! It is
by far my favorite grade! I’ve been teaching at the same rural school for those
13 years as well! It is awesome seeing all the children in a family come
through your classroom, graduate, and return as high school or university
students! I’ve developed great relationships with so many parents after having
several (or all!) of their children.
4.
What songs are
included on the soundtrack to your life?
That is
a near impossible question!! I am a music lover and I attend MANY concerts. I
love everything from The Killers to Coldplay to The Beatles to The Stones to
our hometown band, The Tragically Hip!
5.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
Hmmm… I have
a wonderful life. It isn’t one
full of hardships, for sure… Professionally, I’d have to say completing my
Specialist in Mathematics more than 10 years after graduating from university.
I was so out of practice writing essays and all that goes with that. It was a
great deal of work, but SO worth it!!
Personally,
the hardest thing I’ve ever done would have to be seeing my mom into surgery
after she was diagnosed with cancer. It was a success and she’s now healthy and
active nearly 5 years later! J
6.
What’s your favorite TV show?
I’m not
much of a TV watcher. I much prefer reading, listening to music or fiddling
around on my computer!
7.
What is your favorite item of clothing and why?
Oh, a
great pair of jeans, hands down!! Nothing feels better on than a great pair of
jeans!!
8.
Number of candles that appeared on your last
birthday cake?
Oh, boy… 37. How
can that be? I’m still
22 in my brain!!
9.
What was the last book you read? What are you
going to read next?
I read
The Virgin Cure on my last beach vacation in March. I have dozens of books on
my must-read list, but when I have the chance to start a new one it will be
whichever speaks to me at the time. I never plan what comes next – it
depends on how I’m
feeling, my frame of mind, etc.
10.
What was the last thing that you ate that you
really shouldn’t of?
Mini
chocolate éclairs!
