Some of my Summer Responsibilities

So, how's your June going?  Mine is going...busily.  {I realize that sentence does not make a lot of sense, gramatically, but it IS how my summer is going}  I haven't even been in the pool once this summer, much to my dermatologist's delight.  It's my own fault-I have taken on a lot this summer.  Too much, but it's too late now...
As you probably know by now, next year I will be the librarian at my school.  I have been working in the library a lot.  I am in the middle of rearranging the picture books (from AR level to author's last name), laying out a new floorplan, and sorting and organizing lots of stuff.
Here are some before pictures-

Soon to be the Teacher's Resource Library.

A different angle

As you can see- I have some work to do.  The walls will be painted and new carpet will be put down sometime in July.  It's going to be a race to the finish to have it ready by August 8th.  Keep me in your prayers!

I am also working as a Common Core Coach.  I was hired by the state to train other 1st grade teachers in the ELA Common Core Standards.  I am currently sitting in my hotel room in Chattanooga writing this- my final week of prepration is this week.  Then, I will spend 3 weeks in July traveling around and training teachers.  I walked around the downtown area this afternoon and absolutely fell in love with the city.  It's just adorable.  See if you agree-

Bicycles to rent!

A cute little pizza place!

A cool sculpture

It's just a lovely downtown area.  It has a warehouse district feel to it.  So cute.  If you get a chance, you should definitely visit!
What are you doing this summer?!  Tell us about your plans in the comments below!

  1. Oh Boy! I will keep you in my prayers! I know you'll get it all done though. It seems teachers always get it done. Good luck in your new position. Where are all the places that you will be training teachers?

  2. What a fantastic canvas to transform! I just know you are going to get through it, you just have to put your head down and bum up and go! Good luck and I hope you are enjoying your transition into your new job.
