2.        Tell us about your blog and why you started it.
I have been reading blogs for a while and in December I decided to finally start one. I love working with ESOL students because I was one growing up and I wanted to share ideas and strategies on how to work with these students. Not only do I love working with ESOL students but I also love working with my kindergarteners. So my blog is a mix of ideas and strategies for kindergarteners and ESOL students plus some extra fun things!

3.         Tell us a little about your teaching background.
I have been teaching for six years. All six years have been in kindergarten. I love working towards a classroom environment that is fun and welcoming!  I have an ESOL and Reading Endorsement. I have been blessed to have been able to work and complete my Master’s and Education Specialist degree in General Curriculum and Instruction.

4.         What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
This is very tricky because I have a diverse collection of songs. This is including Spanish and English songs. Therefore, I can’t choose one.

5.        What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
Completing my Master’s and Specialist back to back while completing my ESOL Endorsement was very hard plus working full time, going to church, book club, etc. I felt as if I was being spread very very thin!!! Let’s just say that I am glad that is over!

6.        What’s your favorite TV show?
Lately, I have loved Army Wives, Scandal, Burn Notice, Revenge, etc. I love T.V.!!!! (It’s my guilty pleasure!)

7.        What is your favorite item of clothing and why?
Oddly enough…skinny jeans. I used to hate them. Now I can’t get enough of them!

8.        Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake?
That will be 29!!! One more year before 30!!!!

9.        What was the last book you read? What are you going to read next?
I have a book club with some of my co-workers (started a 2nd one at church so this goes to show you that I LOVE to read!) The last book we chose was The Storyteller by Jodi Piccoult. It was really good! I didn’t think I was going to like it but I was pleasantly surprised! The next book is between Ladies Night (Mary Kay Andrews) or Let’s Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir)-Jenny Lawson.

10.       What was the last thing that you ate that you really shouldn’t of?
A Nutella-stuffed Crepe…so yummy!!!! I even ate a smaller portion of my meal so I can eat the crepe.

2. Tell us about your blog and why you started it.
My blog is a mixture of funny classroom events, teaching products, clip art, and freebies. I started it with the hope of meeting teachers from around the world and hopefully sharing some great new ideas. I’m happy to say that I’ve met some fantastic friends in the last few months!

3. Tell us a little about your teaching background.

I’ve taught grades k-3, and often multi-age groupings over the last 20 years. My college years were spend studying visual art and education, and both of those areas were a perfect training for teaching! I’ve taught at the same school for the last ten years. My children also attended there, and my hubby teaches music there, so even though I’m a working mom, I feel like I never had to miss anything as my kids grew up. Now my kids are older, but I still hang out with the hubs at our little school. I feel very lucky!

4. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?

I’d choose “The Time of Your Life” because it’s been such an adventure! We’ve done a lot of traveling with our kids during the summers. We’ve been on road trips up the west coast, we’ve biked down volcanoes in Hawaii, and we also did a house exchange in France for a summer. Too bad none of us thought to learn French before we left!

5. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?

One of the hardest things I’ve done is finishing teacher training! When I started my first practicum my son was only 6 months old, the teacher I was sent to work with was truly mean and unhelpful, and I nearly quit! But now, 20 years later, I can look back and see what a personal challenge that was and be thankful that I kept going. It was a huge lesson - feeling so vulnerable and beaten down - because that’s just how some kids in my class must feel when they have trouble learning new things. I always keep that memory close to heart when encouraging my little ones!

6. What’s your favorite TV show?

I love the show called Secret Millionaire. The producers send a volunteer millionaire into a poverty-stricken area to investigate the amazing non-profit programs that are being run in poor areas, often saving people’s lives. Of course after a week of helping these people (in disguise) the millionaire reveals that he’s rich, and always donates thousands of dollars of his own money to amazing causes. It’s a tear-jerker for sure!

7. What is your favorite item of clothing and why?

I love my comfy yoga pants!

8. Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake?

I just had my 44th birthday.

9. What was the last book you read? What are you going to read next?

I recently finished a book called “The Female Brain” which is about how the female brain is different than the male brain and why we act the way we do. Very interesting indeed!  I also read the other book called The Male Brain, but that one was much shorter and less complicated! lol
Considering I live with two teenage boys and one hubby, it was good to get some explanations about why they all act like that! And I made my hubby read all about the female brain just so he’d have a better understanding of why I need chocolate!  J

10. What was the last thing that you ate that you really shouldn’t of?

Speaking of chocolate…. the last thing I had was a chocolate cheesecake brownie. I know.  But I’d do it again!
