Today’s first blogger is Autumn from

1.         Name of blog and link: First Grade Teacher Lady

2.       Tell us about your blog and why you started it. It all started one day around report card time.  I was dreading report cards and was thinking about all the fun stuff we have done this year.  I wished I could show the parents some of those things versus standard after standard of grades. So I got this idea that I would start a blog of the neat things we do during the year. I wanted to share with parents, teachers, pre-service teachers, or basically anyone who would read it!  My blog makes me happy! I love to share and to help others and if it helps even one teacher I am happy J!

3.       Tell us a little about your teaching background. I just finished my first year of teaching! I am a first grade teacher at a very rural school district in Central Pennsylvania. I graduated from Penn State University with a 4.0!! I was also the recipient of the ATE/KDP National Student Teacher of The Year Award!

4.        What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life? 1. Somewhere Over The Rainbow    2. Little Miss (Sugarland)    3. Love Shack   4. My Little Girl (Tim McGraw)  5. Give in to me (Garrett Hedlund & Leighton Meester)

5.       What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done? When I was 12 years old my sister passed away in a car accident. She was my best friend and my hero. I think getting through everyday life problems without her has been the hardest thing. I am getting married in 2.5 weeks and walking down the isle without her standing there will be tough, but I know she will be with me in my heart!

6.      What’s your favorite TV show? SO HARD to pick ONE! Law & Order SVU, Dexter, Big Brother, GLEE!, Shameless, Sons of Anarchy, and True Blood! J Sorry I could not just pick ONE!

7.      What is your favorite item of clothing and why? Scarf! Who does not love a beautiful scarf?! It can dress up any outfit and it can keep you warm!  LOVE my scarf collection!

8.      Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake? 24!

9.       What was the last book you read? What are you going to read next? I just read “Teach Like a Pirate” and LOVED it! I have been dying to read Sarah Dessen’s new book. It is called The Moon and More. Sarah Dessen is AMAZING!

10.      What was the last thing that you ate that you really shouldn’t of? Five Guys!! It was on a shopping trip with my Best Friend. We were hungry and she just had a baby so we needed somewhere quick. We felt so guilty with the wedding coming, but IT WAS SO GOOD!

Our next blogger is Robyn from

 1.        Name of blog and link:
The name of my blog is Kreative in Kindergarten.

2.       Tell us about your blog and why you started it.
My blog tells of my experiences while making a big grade shift! I have moved from 5th grade all the way down to kindergarten. I couldn’t be more excited, overwhelmed, and a little scared!
I’ve had a personal blog since 2007, so the blog world is not new to me. I slowly started reading more and more educational blogs and just feel in love! I was a blog stalker for years and I finally decided to take the plunge when I was moved to kindergarten.

3.        Tell us a little about your teaching background.
I have a bachelor’s in SPED and Early Childhood. I started my first year teaching special education to K-5 in resource and co-teaching. I co-taught in kindergarten for those three years. I was yearning for my own classroom and a 5th grade Math and Science position came available. I taught in this grade level for 5 years. I loved the age of the kids! They were very independent and still eager to learn. However, my heart was still with the little ones. I begged and pleaded for a change this past year and boy did I get one! This upcoming school year I will be in kindergarten!

4.        What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
I LOVED R.E.M.’s Shiny Happy People. It always makes me smile!

5.       What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
Becoming a mom is by far the hardest thing I have ever done! It is also the most rewarding. Every day I am faced with challenges of raising two amazing kids, but I wouldn’t change a thing. I am now a much better teacher because I understand where parents are coming from. I always try to see my students as if they were my own children. How should I treat them? How would I treat my own children? It was a career changer!

6.      What’s your favorite TV show?
I am a self-proclaimed TV buff! I watch too many shows! Some of my favorites are Big Brother, So You Think You Can Dance, Mad Men, Downton Abbey, and Big Bang Theory.

7.      What is your favorite item of clothing and why?
Hmm…This is a hard one. I love buying clothes! I don’t have a particular item, but I love being all dressed up. That is when I feel the most confident!

8.      Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake?
I will turn the BIG 3-0 on July 10th!

9.       What was the last book you read? What are you going to read next?
I LOVE to read, but working full time and having two little ones makes it next to impossible. I read all of the Hunger Games books and now I am struggling to finish the Maze Runner series.

10.      What was the last thing that you ate that you really shouldn’t of?
A cookie dough blizzard from Dairy Queen. I was sooo good!
