Five for Friday

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching's Five for Friday to share my week with you.  I start each week intending on linking up on Friday, but by the time Friday afternoon rolls around, I am so tired that I don't think about it until about Sunday.  Not tonight.  Tonight I remembered!  The exciting inning is over in the Cardinals/Dodgers game, so while I wait for the Cards to finish whooping LA, I'll write this post!

This was the week we thought would never end.  Fall Break was last week, so naturally, this week dragged itself out!
With Halloween just around the corner, I pulled out one of my favs, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams.  We read the story, then sequenced the events with these great visuals I found on TpT.  Vickie Plant created a great sequencing product using 3 different fall stories.  You can see it {HERE}.  I also made a color copy of the front cover, back cover, and title page.  You can't see it here, but I blew them up to poster size and we "made" a giant, living, breathing, squirming book.  It was a great lesson, if I do say so myself!

I am also busy making Book Fair plans!  I am SO EXCITED about my first book fair next week!  Scholastic will deliver next Thursday and the GRAND opening is Friday!  To make the GRAND opening really special, only students who bring someone "GRAND" will be able to shop.  A GRAND is a Grandparent, Relative, Aunt or uncle, Neighbor, or a Devoted caretaker.

The theme is Reading Oasis and will look something like this-
I will definitely share this experience with you next week!

I was so busy with Book Fair fun and the Lady who wasn't afraid of anything, that I forgot to reshelve books.  And this is not even all of them. :(

On a completely different note, I made this delicious Fiesta Bean Salad.  The picture is of my beautiful creation, but if you click it, you'll be taken to the recipe on Pinterest.

Just a tiny bit over 5 days ago, I saw The Lumineers.  It was a GREAT show!

Thanks for letting me share my week with you!  Hop over to Doodle Bugs Teaching to read some more!

P.S. I'll be giving away a super awesome highly coveted classroom item very soon...you know the one- it's super quiet and amazing.... Stay tuned!
